In The City Day Three
Posted by paul - 02/12/08 at 02:12:56 pmDay Three. Monday 6th October. Everywhere.
So I liked In The City so much I decided to head back up to Manchester for the final two days, The Merchants Hotel was my next lodgings, not 5 star, but smack bang in the middle of Piccadilly.
I pretty much went it alone on the second day, Johnny Foreigner were the band I had to shoot at the end of the night, first off to Bedlam for I Am Austin, a band not far away from where I live, first time of seeing them, not bad.
Off to the uber trendy Central One or One Central for the hyperactive Soft Toy Emergency, great photo opportunities with these, also No Picasso were fun to shoot at the very cool Cellar Vie, not as lame as its sounds.

I rushed back to Chicago Rock, yes Chicago Rock had bands on, but Johnny Foreigner were cancelled, that was a big kick in the teeth.
In The City Day Two
Posted by paul - 02/12/08 at 10:12:25 amDay Two. Sunday October 5th. Everywhere.
Technically its day one of In The City as The Warehouse Project was the launch party, but its day two for me and forever shall be.
I spent the majority of the early hours of sunday fighting with an painfully slow ibook, but onto my ‘final day’ at In The City.
Day started off meeting Shirlaine Forrest again and Gary Wolstenholme , awesome DiS photographer who kindly let me tag along with him as I did not know the area that well plus I never planned to flip between venues all night, quite the rush as it goes, having to deal with the different light setups various venues had.
Shot a few bands, before heading down to the NME show at South with Gary and Danny North (yes another namecheck) to shoot Detroit Social Club, then I legged it to Night and Day for first two songs of the ace Spinto Band then legged it back to South for Little Boots, this is pretty much the way it went from here on.
It was a bit mad for Little Boots, a ton of photographers flashing away at the poor lass in a very tight space, then it was back to the mansion and off home at the unruly time of five in the morning.
In The City Day One
Posted by paul - 14/10/08 at 12:10:05 pmDay One. Saturday October 4th. The Warehouse Project.
4 sweaty expensive awesome days at In The City, Manchester.
First off, Citi Mansions is no Mansion and the £10 taxi fares to get to and from there were the biggest luxery.
Warehouse Project, that were fun finding it in the pouring rain, running around Piccadilly station trying to find anyone that knew where underneath the warehouse project was.
It got better when I got inside to witness the greatness of Midnight Juggernauts, then ushered into the loading bay, where I would spent the majority of the night in-between bands in the company of the brilliance that is Shirlaine Forrest.
Late of the Pier were awesome as expected, though I was’nt too happy with my shots, all night really, erratic lighting I was’nt prepared for, the start of a few lessons I’d learn over the course of the weekend.
The less said about Reverand and the Makers the better.
Off back to the ‘Mansion’ to spend hours on the laptop loading raw images into iphoto, I know, I know but there was nothing I could do with my normal raw organizer app not working.
And Shirlaine thought she moaned too much…
